Uhlenhorst is located east of the Außenalster, between the mouths of the Osterbekkanal and the Eilbekkanal. The district borders on Winterhude in the north, Barmbek-Süd in the northeast, and Hohenfelde in the south. Hamburg’s geographical center is located in Uhlenhorst – between the church of St. Gertrud and the Kuhmühlenteich pond.
The Schwanenwik Street – the namesake of our office – runs directly along the Außenalster and connects St. Georg with Uhlenhorst. It was built between 1853 and 1858 as a connecting road and received its current name in 1888, which refers to the Alsterswan Bay where the Hamburg Alster swans traditionally wintered. The word “Wik” comes from the Scandinavian language and means bay, shore or shoal.
Anyone wishing to buy a house in Uhlenhorst is moving into one of the most expensive and at the same time most coveted segments of the Hamburg real estate market. Villas and townhouses directly on the Außenalster command square footage prices of up to 29,000 euros – a level that reflects the exclusivity of this location. Those wishing to sell a house benefit from a consistently high demand from qualified buyers from within and outside the country.
